About… me?
Enjoyed life to the fullest and can definitely say besides trying to fulfill a Hollywood “Bucket List” , which I don’t have , I have had a great life with beautiful people arriving, leaving or staying for a while or staying forever .

Through this blog you will get to know me coping with the champion of knock downs.

  2. Carlos (& Jules); great to see your blog up and running. There’s an old Scots saying my late Mum used to say to me: “What’s for you won’t go by you”… so essentially we all just need to get on with things as best we can – and that’s enough…. it’s good to know the pair of you are doing just that … tread your own path. Best wishes always.

  3. I sat at my father’s bedside and saw him “pass away”. I know what that means now. But here’s something from a wild man who was Welsh and a poet…and, Carlos, I think there’s the wild man in you and in your past 🙂 Dylan Thomas to his father: “And you, my father, on that sad height,/Curse, bless me now with fierce tears, I pray./ Do not go gentle into that good night./Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” xxxx

  4. The old clichĂ© ‘fighting cancer’ – you don’t fight it. As you’ve already discovered yourself, it’s a Ninja that sneaks up on you in rubber-soled shoes and delivers a fatal blow before you’ve even realised it’s there. Or maybe it’s like the Chinese ‘five-point palm exploding heart technique’ from Kill Bill. Personally, I thought Dylan Thomas was an asshole. 🙂 Don’t waste your time cursing and raging. “Dreaming when Dawn’s Left Hand was in the Sky
I heard a voice within the Tavern cry,
“Awake, my Little ones, and fill the Cup
Before Life’s Liquor in its Cup be dry.
And, as the Cock crew, those who stood before
The Tavern shouted — “Open then the Door!
You know how little while we have to stay,
And, once departed, may return no more.”

  5. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about death. Not that I’m a maudlin person, far from it but In my professional career I spent years at crematoriums and cemeteries.

Working in such an environment, it’s inevitable to think about your own mortality. I’d survived a head on collision with a tanker 20 years before so I’d thought hard about how life could be taken in a moment.

By my reckoning it’s better to know that your life is coming to an end and that you don’t have 25 years ahead of you to do the things that bring you’d planned. It brings life into a sharper focus.

I applaud your attitude, I applaud you taking life by the balls, good man.

    Best Wishes.

  6. Hi Carlos you have inspired me to start writing my own blog, used to enjoy your postings on A&E. I have not got a death sentence hanging over my head but luckily a Life Sentence, the Demon within me is secondary progressive MS. Keep the inspiration going!

  7. Carlos this is such a beautiful blog! There is so much emotion, wit and passion for life within each one of your posts. It’s sometimes all too easy to forget that each person who walks through the doors of a hospital has their own unique outlook on life, their own family, their own hobbies and interests. Their own story. Thank you for sharing yours!
